Student Exchange Programme for Undergraduate in Dentistry
The Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya (UM), welcomes international undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in Dentistry or Medicine. Participants may apply for a short-term student exchange programme.
Purpose of Programme
The programme aims to provide international undergraduate students with opportunities for academic, clinical, community service, and cultural exposure at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya.
During the programme, participants may observe clinical sessions or attend classes under the supervision of a UM lecturer. They may also participate in community service activities within the Klang Valley and experience Malaysian culture. Please note that participants are not permitted to perform any clinical procedures. All placements are subject to the availability of the annual schedule.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a registered and active undergraduate student in Dentistry, or Medicine.
Duration
- The programme is offered for a duration of two (2) weeks.

Capacity
- 4 programmes / academic year
- 20 – 28 participants (including supervisor(s)) per programme
Fees
- Fee category for participants & accompanying staff
- Global North countries: USD 200
- Global South countries: USD 150
- Fees do not include accommodation, flight ticket, or living expenses.
- Full payment of programme fees is required at least one (1) month before the programme.
- Invoice and payment method will be shared along with the Acceptance Letter.
- Airport transfer and daily transportation will be provided during the programme activities.
Visa and Immigration
- Participants are responsible for obtaining the appropriate visa for their stay in Malaysia.
- For the most up-to-date information, please consult the Embassy of Malaysia or the Malaysian Immigration Department.
- Kindly note that the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya, does not provide individual visa advice.
Accommodation
- Please be informed that Universiti Malaya does not provide on-campus accommodation for visiting participants.
- However, you may consider nearby options such as Rumah Universiti, Komune Living, KL Gateway Residences, Pantai Hillpark, Pantai Panorama, University Tower, Seventeen Mall & Residences, Residence Kerinchi, South View Serviced Apartment, South View Residence, Camellia Serviced Suites, Novum Bangsar South, Mahsa Avenue, Tiara Damansara, Jasmine Tower, and Vista Angkasa.
- Participants may also search for rental options through iProperty and Airbnb
- Participants are responsible for arranging their own housing.
Insurance
- All participants are required to obtain valid international travel and health insurance prior to their arrival in Malaysia.
- Proof of insurance may be requested during the registration process.
- Please note that the Universiti Malaya does not provide assistance with insurance matters.
Application Process
- All applications must be submitted at least three (3) months prior to the commencement of the program
- Applications received after this deadline may not be considered.
- Application forms and supporting documents must submitted through this Application Form for Student Exchange Programme.
- The lecturer or staff MUST complete the form before students can proceed with individual application.
- Once completed, the lecturer or staff will receive a SEP Code, which is required for students to complete their application.
- Supporting documents include:
- Supporting letter from the home Dean addressed to the Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya
- Recent Passport-size Photograph
- Copy of Passport (minimum 18 months validity)
- Application will be reviewed by the Faculty of Dentistry, UM and subject to programme availability.
- An Acceptance Letter will be issued upon successful application.
